A former security director for the Green Bay Packers is making a difference in the fight against cancer.
Checks totaling $135,000 were handed out to ten different cancer organizations Wednesday.
Jerry Parins, who is also a former Green Bay police officer, presented the checks.
The money was raised during last year's "Cruise for Cancer," a motorcycle ride set up by Parins.
The 77-year-old was diagnosed with colon cancer 13 years ago and has been in remission for 10 years.
Parins says he is thankful for the overwhelming support over the years, "13 years from cancer, diagnosed with cancer, is a huge step, but being involved with our program to get a million dollars to put back out to our community. I'm very proud of that."
This year's "Cruise for Cancer" will take place on Saturday, June 11.
